On to Anacortes, WA and the Boat Basin

We traveled to Chehalis, WA to the Riverside Golf and RV Resort. This very nice golf course has a number of RV pads next door where we enjoyed the full hookups and the sight of the first fairway (on the other side of the protective net!). Rick had a great time playing a round of golf and the site worked out great.

We decided to check out Anacortes, WA on this trip, so tooled up I-5 past Seattle. Rick remarked that this was the first interstate he had been on for several weeks, after cruising up Hwy 101 on the Oregon coast. Anyway, we had no problem going through Seattle to the San Juan Islands.

The city of Anacortes is a beautiful place and focused on the ocean. This wonderful overlook gave us a bird's eye view of the entry to the harbor and of the San Juan Islands in the area.

The other side of the overlook gave us a view of the boat basin which is a very busy harbor for pleasure boats of all sizes.

We saw a number of boats coming and going from the harbor and enjoyed the great weather we were blessed with. This was one of the few days where the wind was not blowing as can be seen by the mirror-smooth water surface.

Of course, after Rick saw the marina, we had to go explore more closely! Fortunately, several of the docks featured brokerage yachts that were for sale.

Here is a nice one, said Orinda! Actually, Rick liked this 55' yacht, but when we compared it with the motorhome, we decided that we liked the coach appraoch to fulltime living. As Orinda said, the motorhome might break, but it probably won't sink.

There were some really nice yachts offered here, such as this 56' motorsailer for a  small 1.2 million dollars. That will certainly get your attention!

It was fun to stroll around and look at the nice yachts, such as this 75' model which really filled the dock space. We learned that there will be a yacht rally in a couple weeks with a number of yachts over 100' in length.

This is one of the biggest and nicest marinas we have seen and was very impressive. Apparently, the City of Anacortes has worked hard to enhance the marina which used to be an old lumber mill area and is now one of the finest marinas on the northwest coast.

More great coastal views. I think I could enjoy a couple of those yachts:)
